Served as Professor of Philosophy & Ethics at the Univ. of Mississippi.
He was an author.
In the central green of the University is a Confederate Monument,
built in 1906. This monument was dedicated by Dr. W. D. Hedleston,
Author of book "Lampoil"
a professor of philosophy and religion for many years. He also performed
the marriage ceremony for William and Estelle Faulkner at College Hill
Presbyterian Church in 1930. The Albert Sydney Johnson Chapter of the
United Daughters of the Confederacy constructed the monument.
